The prompt for this story was to write a story in which a young boy has a strong desire to eat turtles.

My idea in writing it was to reveal in the end that the turtles in the story were not animals, but rather chocolate turtles. But of course ChatGPT did not ‘see’ the twist and came up with something, well, macabre.

Apologies folks, but this is what ChatGPT spit back.

Once upon a time, there was a young child named Timmy who lived in a small village by the river. Timmy was a curious and adventurous child, and he loved nothing more than exploring the lush forest that surrounded his village.

One day, while wandering through the forest, Timmy came across a small pond. As he peered into the water, he saw something that caught his attention – a group of turtles swimming lazily in the pond. Timmy had never seen turtles before, and he was fascinated by their slow, steady movements and the way they gracefully swam through the water.

As Timmy watched the turtles, he began to feel a strange craving. He wanted to taste their meat, he thought it would be delicious. He spent the whole day trying to catch one of them but they were too fast and elusive. However, Timmy was determined and he kept going back to the pond, day after day, trying to catch a turtle.

6

Finally, one day, Timmy’s persistence paid off and he was able to catch a turtle. He was overjoyed and brought it home to his mother, who was shocked by his desire to eat turtle meat and warned him about the dangers of consuming wild animals. But Timmy was too excited to listen and he quickly cooked and ate the turtle.

7

But as he ate, he began to feel sick. His stomach ached and he felt a burning sensation in his throat. He realized that he had made a grave mistake, not only morally but also health wise. He felt guilty and remorseful for his actions and decided to never do it again. From then on, Timmy learned to appreciate and respect all living creatures, and he never ate turtle meat again.

The end.
