The Return of the Amazing Tooth Fairy is the sequel to “The Amazing Tooth Fairy” which you can read by clicking on the page opposite.
It was a Tuesday, I remember,
The first of December,
I woke up in the middle of the night,
What a sight!
My rainbow was aglow,
The talking flowers were yelling
With all their might,
“Get up! Get dressed,
Get out of bed”,
They said,
“Put on your socks,
And open the box!”
Of course I knew why –
A year had gone by!
So I did,
I opened the lid,
And inside
Was just,
A bus ticket,
And some dust.
After waiting a year,
Summer, winter, spring and fall,
That’s all?
After so much fuss,
Just a ticket to get on a bus?
But then the ground began to quake,
And I thought I saw a bus
Land from outer space,
And park in our parking place.
Right away,
The pickadilo on
Top of the pile,
Yawned, and
Began to smile,
Then two others,
Then all their brothers,
Before you could say ‘weeping willows’,
All seven pickadiloes
Were jumping around,
Dancing to the sound
Of the bird band,
Playing “I want to hold your hand”.
The bus outside
Had a sign that read,
(You’ll never guess),
“No. 79 – Mars and Moon express”.
Everybody got on board:
The seeing pencil,
The tasty spoons,
The beautiful bananas,
The talking flowers,
The bouncing balls,
Each pickadilo,
The rainbow,
The bird band,
Each magic key,
And of course, me.
Everybody took their place,
And we set off for outer space.
On the way,
We got to know,
Each and every pickadilo,
They are named
After the days of the week,
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday,
Saturday and Sunday!
Every day is a pickadilo’s
Birthday!
(At least, that’s what they say).
We passed some stars,
And when we reached Mars,
The spoon
Took us to see
Where they make
The chocolate bars.
Then all of us,
Got back on the bus,
On the way we crooned,
“Fly me to the moon”.
The flowers told us,
It’s an old Sinatra tune.
The man in the moon
Was sleeping
When we arrived,
So we just had a quiet walk around,
And didn’t make a sound.
The moon, By the way,
Is really made of yellow cheese.
The spoons
Gave us some to eat,
So we ate,
It tasted great,
But smelled like socks,
Or smelly feet.
It was all great fun,
But suddenly,
The clock struck one.
The talking flowers,
Reminded me that I had
School in just a few more hours.
So we flew home through the sky,
As fast as we could fly.
When I awoke the next morning,
Everyone was gone!
No rainbow,
Not even one pickadilo!
No magic spoons,
No bird band playing Beatles tunes,
Not a single magic key,
Nobody remained but me!
The very next day
I made this little book,
So everyone can see
Exactly how they look.
When I am grown,
And have a daughter
Of my own,
And her
First tooth falls out,
Have no doubt,
I won’t blink,
I won’t sleep a wink,
I won’t count sheep, not even one,
I’ll stay awake,
And wait, by the door,
For the tooth fairy
To come,
Once more.
