Dear Mr. C,
It’s been a long time since we last spoke,or more precisely 20 years have passed.
Last time we met, that night at the park, I was afraid to meet you and tried to avoid you because my actions were irresposible and childish. Out of emberresment of how I acted, I locked myelf in my room and refused to go out.
You knew I was lying the whole time but still supported me by making the whole neighborhood know I had read a hundred books.
A couple of years went by and I realized that you saw in me a lot of yourself and wanted a better future for me.
After our awkward encounter, I went to the library and opened the first real book in my life. After a month of reading books in depth, I decided to complete my formal education. Six months later i went to look for a job as a librarian. That job made me fall in love with reading and writing books and I wrote my first book. With the help of the library manager I was able to reach out to an advertising company and publish the book.
Today I’m a succeful writer who helps kids like me develop their self confidence and believe in themselves like you believed in me. My books encourage children to aim for a bright future full of dreams.
I’m writing you this letter because I want to thank you. Thank you for believing in me when no one did, therefore I decided to start an assosiaction that would help young kids who dropped out of school. All of that THANKS TO YOU!
With great recpect and admiration, George.
THE SONG WE CHOSE:
I’m still standing–
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHwVBirqD2s
lyrics:
Your blood like winter freezes just like ice
And there’s a cold lonely light that shines from you
You’ll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use
Well look at me, I’m coming back again
I got a taste of love in a simple way
And if you need to know while I’m still standing, you just fade away
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I’m still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
You’re starting down the road leaving me again
The threats you made were meant to cut me down
And if our love was just a circus, you’d be a clown by now
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I’m still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I’m still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
We chose this song because George lived a difficult life full of obstacles but against all odds he overcame his difficulties and became a succefull writer.
“Don’t you know I’m still standing better than I ever did.
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I’m still standing after all this time”. Despite everything he went through in his life, George chose to lift himself up and take Mr. C’s advice- to not repeat his mistakes and do something meaningful.
