To Educators:
This book provides students in the lower grade levels (first or second) with knowledge of the basic understanding of different months in a year and holidays. It is important for students to know the different months in a year is their earlier stages of their childhood. Holidays are also important for students to learn to further their knowledge on culture and traditions.
Learning Objectives:
After this lesson, students will be able to:
-State the correct total number of months in a year.
-Know that their are different holidays celebrate each month.
-Have a basic understanding that their are different seasons.
We start the new year in JANUARY! We celebrate with streamers and balloons, hugs and kisses. If you live in the northern hemisphere, it is the cold winter season. Snowmen, hot cocoa and warm mitten gloves are used all throughout the month!
The second month of the year is FEBRUARY! We give candy, hearts, flowers and letters to all of the people we love most. This day takes place on February 14th. VALENTINES DAY!

Next up on the calendar is the month of MARCH. The first month of spring and when animals start to come out of hibernation. The cold weather is soon coming to an end and many people wear the color green in celebration of Saint Patricks Day!

BOOM! the suns rays start to glow! The month is MAY. During The month of may we celebrate Cinco De Mayo. A celebration in honor of the Mexican Army’s victory. May is also a great month to play outside and make great memories with friends and families!

Did you guess what’s next? The month of JUNE. School is out and it is time to hit the pool. Sand castles, barbecues, ice cream and more!
What is your favorite summer memory?
The sun still shines as we go into JULY. This month is very special as we celebrate our independence. on the fourth, we celebrate by lighting fireworks, having picnics and spending family time!
AUGUST is the eighth month on the calendar. Everyone is getting ready to go back to school to start the new learning year. There is 31 days in this month and everyone is enjoying their last weeks of summer!
What are some ways you prepare to get ready
for the school year?
SEPTEMBER is here and the warm weather starts to die down. The leave colors start to change and fall starts to approach. Rosh Hashanah and Labor day are both celebrated on this month!
OCTOBER is spooky season and the leaves are almost gone! Witches fly across the sky, pumpkins are carved and everyone is picking out their Halloween costumes!
What will you dress up as for Halloween?
The year’s almost over, but we cannot forget, the month of NOVEMBER the best of them yet! Apples and pies it’s not a surprise. Thanksgiving is here so we’ll all say cheers!
The last one is here, DECEMBER, my deer! The holiday seasons, the most cheerful of most. We give presents to loved ones and ring sleigh bells all day. And when it reaches December 31st, we start over from the first!
