This is the story of the most loving and caring person ever, who never gave up of his dreams: my grandfather Eduardo Waizer.
Eduardo Waizer was born in 1928, in Argentina.
His father spoke only Russian. When he went to the civil registry to register the birth of my Zeide, since they did not understand what he was saying, which was something similar to Eduardo, they asked him male or female and he answered female. So in the documents, he was called “Eduarda” for many years until they correct it.
When my Zeide was 8 years old, his father died of lung problems. He had a childhood of deprivation, his Mom Regina did what she could to support her children, my Zeide and her male brothers collected metals on the street and resold them to make money.
He was blond with blue eyes, and that was not a common look for a person in Argentina. He was stolen by some gypsies, and after some days they returned him. They said he was the evil, because of the color of his eyes and hair.
When he was 18 years old, he came to Israel for 1 year to help in the agriculture. He said he didn’t have much to eat, so after the year, when he came back to Argentina, he ate 12 eggs right after arriving.
When he was 20 years old, he met my grandmother (Celia) and they got married. They did many different things to earn money like sale candies, tires and even toys for kids.
They started a factory to make toys and it was a massive success. Some of the most famous toys were made by his factory.
He woke up everyday at 5:30am, he was a really hard worker.
He had an office in the Jewish neighborhood of Buenos Aires and in 1994, a bombing attacked destroyed the office. He was injured in the attack but nothing serious happened to him.
The office was renovated and is use nowadays by my uncle.
Eduardo was a great dancer, he use to like Tango music.
He used to love soccer and hosted great parties at his house for all the family.
The memory I have from him is that he was always smiling and wanted to help everyone in need.
