I was attempting to sleep, but a thunderstorm was not allowing me. I am not afraid of thunderstorms, but it was the noise it was producing that was the problem. I tossed and turned, but sleep evaded me. At last, I was finally asleep. I heard someone coming into my room; I thought it must be my parents, checking if I was asleep. I tried my best to resemble as if I was sleeping. Eventually, they went out as I heard the shuffling of footsteps and the door closing. I then heard a hoarse voice say “Help me! HELP ME!”. I knew this was not my mother’s or father’s voice, so I snapped my eyes open and saw what was in my room. Nothing. Quite strange. I tried sleeping but I heard the voice murmur again. I asked it “Are you a ghost? You do not seem keen on showing your face.”. It in fact was a ghost! It looked like a boy my age, but with translucent and awfully pale skin.

It said, in its distinct hoarse voice, “HElP ME!”. I pondered about it and said,”How?”. It kept answering with the same phrase; I didn’t think I would be receiving anything else out of it. It then abruptly started drifting away, and so I tried to follow it. I quickly put on my rain jacket and started to follow it out into the rain. I was probably being a bit silly, but I was quite angry at the apparition for disturbing me at night. I looked at my watch and saw it was almost 11 o’clock. Why did the ghost require me to help with something at this hour? The ghost then led me to a tunnel, but this tunnel was not properly maintained at all. I went into the tunnel and saw a piece of paper lying on the ground. I picked it up and saw some sort of drawing on it. It was a map! It had a green dot in the middle, which I assumed was me, but I couldn’t be sure it was as there were no labels.

I also saw a yellow dot in front of me, where the ghost was. I put the map in my pocket and went after the ghost. At the end of the tunnel was an entrance to another tunnel, looking strangely like the first entrance. Had we been going in circles? I didn’t see a curve in the tunnel so I thought we hadn’t. I looked at the map, and saw that the green dot had moved! It was now where I was, at the end of the tunnel. This confirmed that the green dotm was me. I was amazed as this was a piece of paper with moving dots on it and dots which accurately marked your position! I sat down and started examining the map. I noticed that the ghost had also moved, and the yellow dot was now where he was. I was surprised! I kept following the ghost. After a few tunnels, we ended up right back where we were, at the first tunnel just a bit away from my house. I heard a growl and looked back.

The dog was jet black, with its irises, pupils, and whites of the eyes all black, but the most important piece of information was that it was running at me! I started running towards my house, and I made it just in time. Sadly, the ghost did not, but at that point, I thought this was just a dream. I was still holding the map, but I quickly fell on the bed and started sleeping. It was around two o’clock so I was very sleepy. I woke up very refreshed, feeling as if I had a full night’s sleep. I went and tried to brush my teeth, but then I saw that my skin was awfully pale and translucent. I looked at the time, and it was 10:59. I went into my room and saw myself, sleeping. I tried to say “Hello!” but it came out as a hoarse “Help me!”. What was happening?!
