On 03/22 we met with Richard Lucas.
He is a business and social entrepreneur with over 500 employees in small and medium-sized mainly technology companies in the USA, Europe, and Asia.
Richard has been on the management board of some of those businesses, CEO of two of them, and is on the Supervisory Board of three.
He’s particularly interested in changing the way that schools and universities interact with their alumni (Graduates) with respect to the support of Entrepreneurship.
During the deliberation with Richard he touched on a number of interesting topics:
Always be ready to introduce yourself –
Presenting ourselves is important so you should have to spend time and thougth about it.
Because you never know who you’re going to run into.
Organizations have more power than individuals.
The individual may have a good idea, but he needs more people to make the idea real.
Collaboration can be very successful so you have to be willing to meet people in all kinds of social circles.
Leave a mark!
Richard’s father used to say that if someone remember even one thing from your lecture it is a great success.
It is important to make a mistake to learn how to be better.
Self-reflection is just as important as other people’s criticism of you.
Put yourself in the shoes of the candidate you’re interviewing for your company.
that way, the interview will be more effective for both sides.
The amount of customers the company has best reflects the success of the company’s products. If you do not have customers, the existence of your company / product has no meaning.
Possible forms of financing for a company – 3 Fs –
family, friends and Fools.
These forms of financing are not good at all because we need customers in order for the company to exist over time.
The most successful thing Richard did was join the entrepreneurs.
His ideas didn’t work out so well.
Sometimes the best way to answer a question is by asking a question.
Success is subjective, everyone defines success differently.
Nice anecdote we want to share:
While searching for information about Richard, we came across another interesting topic that we recommend everyone to watch.
We’ll meet again with Richard at Ted Circle.
how exciting!
