THE KINGDOM
AND THE DRAGON
By Ori Tshuva and Yahli Agmon
Once upon a time there was a happy kingdom. The kingdom had a problem. There was a sad dragon that decided to attack the kingdom every week and the people were very angry. They decided to ask the king to send warriors to kill the dragon. But the princess told them that maybe they can try to talk to the dragon gently.
In the morning, the warriors and the princess went to look for the dragon. The journey was six days long, but after three days they were really tired and hungry. So they stopped and looked for a place to rest. They saw a big and scary cave, but because they were tired they decided to rest there. They took torches, lit them, and entered the cave. In the cave, they found big and colorful eggs, so they decided to cook and eat them. Only the princess did not want to eat them. Finally they set up a camp and went to sleep.
In the morning, they woke up, and saw that their chariot disappeared. They decided to return to the kingdom by foot. It took them more than a week, but eventually they got back. The king prepared a glorious feast containing all good in their honor. After eating, they told him that their journey had failed and that they could not find the dragon. Therefore, the king ruled that tomorrow morning he will go out with the warriors to kill the dragon.
The next day, they prepared the chariot and a lot of equipment and set off. The princess did not want them to kill the dragon, so she snuck into the back of the chariot. When they arrived at the cave, they set up a camp but did not go to sleep until their chariots were tightly tied. Before going to sleep, they ate a lot of meat they brought with them. Since the princess had no food, she took some meat from them before they finished everything.
In the morning they woke up and started looking for the dragon. Since they did not have a lot of information, it was a bit difficult to find it. They searched for hours and finally heard noises from the top of the mountain. They did not know if they would succeed to climb because they were very tired. Eventually they succeeded. The princess snuck up after them.
When they found the dragon they saw that he was asleep, so they tied him and his mouth so he would not blow fire. Since they tied him very tightly, he woke up and started moving and trying to break free. So the king himself came with the sharpest sword in the whole kingdom. At the last second the princess intervened and said that maybe instead of killing him they could find out why he was angry. The king did not agree but the princess insisted and finally he agreed. The dragon said he had no friends and he was sad so he attacked, and even then they ate his eggs so he was even more sad. The dragon and the king both apologized to each other.
The princess asked the dragon if he wanted to come to the kingdom and that they would be friends. The dragon was a little surprised that someone wanted to be his friend and of course agreed. He flew them back to their kingdom and then he wanted to meet more people from the kingdom. He apologized to everyone that he attacked them and then everyone became friends and everyone lived happily ever after to this day.
