Plot

In the book, there are six different stories. Every story is a case that Holmes works on while Watson is writing about it. For example in one case Watson goes looking for a friend at a bar near London, while he is there he meets up with Holmes at the same bar while Holmes is working on a strange case. A woman told the police that she saw her missing husband but when she came close nothing but the clothes of him was there and the only people that were there were a small dirty beggar and an Indian sailor. The police accused the beggar of murdering the woman’s husband and it seemed her husband was dead but Holmes found out the truth. The beggar was the woman’s husband in disguise and he had done it because he wanted to earn some money in a rather unethical way.

Characters

Sherlock Holmes- Sherlock is a detective, he is very smart but he isn’t the most social man. In fact he only has one friend and that is Dr Watson. Sherlock is tall and a bit skinny, he looks quite old although he is not.

Neville Saint Clair- He is a business man from London but he has a secret. Using his makeup skills that he learned when he was an actor he disguises as an ugly dirty small cripple beggar to make money. He is an average sized good looking man but he can use his acting and make up skills to look ugly and dirty.

I like Neville the least because he regularly makes himself look like a beggar to earn money from people in the streets while he doesn’t need the money and he is hiding it from his wife.

Recommendation

I recommend the book Sherlock Holmes Short Stories because it is a very interesting book with a lot of interesting stories and a lot of surprising moment. This book tells you how Sherlock’s only friend thinks about him and his cases and the brilliant mind of Holmes. The book also talks about the life of Dr Watson who is Holmes only friend and explains really good the brotherhood between the two.
