We chose the digital tool Storyboard to teach EFL students vocabulary. Storyboard is an application that allows anyone to make storyboards or comics. It is an excellent educational tool to use in class with students of all ages. We found Storyboard is particularly useful for teaching English. It’s an interactive, fun, and visual way to teach students grammatical concepts, vocabulary, reading and comprehension, and more.

Among other things, Storyboards is very effective for teaching students new vocabulary. You can create more detailed storyboards for advanced students using a variety of new vocabulary, or you can make very basic storyboards with only a few new vocabulary words. While creating comics on storyboard students expand their vocabulary in a creative way that will help them remember the new words by connecting them to their image. For example, a teacher can give his students a list of new words they studied in class and ask them for homework to create a comic with the new words.

Although Storyboard is a creative way to learn vocabulary, it also can be very limiting. Creating free comics in Storyboard contains only three cells. As a result of the limited cells, the students can not learn with Storyboard a long list of vocabulary at once and this can prevent them from expanding their vocabulary. However, Storyboard is not the base of learning vocabulary but a fun way to expand their learning, and a great way to practice what was learned in class.
