“Being a dancer is not always easy. It takes a lot of practice and hard work”. That is what my mother told me.
It didn’t scare me. From a young age I knew that I wanted to be a ballet dancer. I admired the way ballet dancers, walk, stand and look. I loved the tutu and the shoes.
I started to dance in a small studio at the age of five. Putting on my dancing shoes was the best part of my day. I did not care about my school I just wanted to dance…dance… dance
I never gave up. Everytime I got injured I stood up tall and strong, facing all challenges that came my way. On January third there was one injury that forced me to give up…
I crawlled into bed. I did not know what I was supposed to do. “I am broken, I am shattered there is no future for me” I told my mother. I did not stop crying. I did not want to see anyone.
My mom didnt leave my bedside. She stood there strong and wise and told me “my daughter nothing can break a true ballerina but her spirit. If you want to be a ballerina you will be. Your legs are not everything.
“Oh mom you were so right! Nothing can stop a true ballerina!”
